Continued Research on the Intellectual Community of Winter Park

This week I continued my research on how the establishment of Rollins College affected the intellectual community of Winter Park. After looking through more newspaper articles, I found philanthropists in the Rollins College community that helped the college as well as promoted events within Winter Park. Some of these families are the Holts, Hookers, and Wards, all which have buildings named after them today. These families supported events both promotionally and financially. They attended many intellectual events and created a chic atmosphere which interested other high class members of Winter Park society to consider donating to the causes that the families supported. This newfound interest trickled down into all levels of society and increased the intellectual community as a whole.
