Hurricane Donna

I was doing some research for my Historical Winter Park project and decided to first look into interesting events that occurred in Winter Park starting in the 1960s. The first event which i came across was Hurricane Donna which struck Winter Park on September 11th 1960. This was a major hurricane with sustained winds of 128 mph, and a recorded gusts reaching over 150 mph. I used the Winter Park Public Library's website to research the damage inflicted by Donna and was able to find some interesting pictures that are believed to have been taken a day after the storm passed through central Florida. I would like to continue researching the 1960s in Winter Park by next attempting to uncover a prevalent social issue of the time. Here is the link to the pictures depicting the wrath of Hurricane Donna: http://www.wppl.org/wphistory/HurricaneDonna/index.html
