Primary source

My primary source is a letter from Wilson Phelps to one of the founders of Winter Park, describing the climate in the area and explaining the positives and negatives of the land, also mentioning some of the potential prices of the land per acre. He points out the rich soil, comfortable climate, and beautiful scenery as the best qualities, with negatives of mosquitos and other wildlife that one would normally find in the north anyways. This document is incredibly important because it establishes the reasons for building Winter Park as a winter vacation for the wealthy. Since my paper is about the wealthy lifestyle in Winter Park, it is important to examine the origins of the town and determine what was done in order to draw the wealthy to live here.

  1. This is a great primary source. It has rich information you can use. Questions about climate and the language used to describe Winter Park are invaluable.

You might want to mention this document to Maan, as his research is considering aspects of the real estate.
