Primary Source

My primary source is a map of the South Florida Railroad. Construction of the railroad began around 1875, and was intended to connect the towns of Sandford and Orlando. The railroad ran directly through Winter Park at the time of the town's development. Because it increased accessability to Winter Park, the railroad is therefore credited with raising the cost of living and increasing traffic around the area. The influx of residents in Winter Park then allowed for rapid development of buildings and industry leading into the Gilded Age, which is the focus of my research paper. http://taplines.net/southflorida/oldmap.jpg
